Budde Shawl
Budde is a nearly circular shawl knitted in five shades of natural wool and in two sizes.
It is mainly worked in garter stitch but narrow bands of purl garter stitch, feature eyelets, a bit of slip stitch and a picot edge add pretty details.
Budde is knitted using larger than usual needles and fingering weight wool to create a light, airy fabric which grows quite quickly and can be worn in a variety of ways.
The design is based on a cross-section of a tree as seen through a magnifying lens, with rays, rings and little holes.
I was searching for a name for this design and after hearing Bishop Mariann Edgar Budde speak with such calm inner strength, I thought that this meditative large project with a light touch seemed a good fit.
I hope that you enjoy being hugged by a tree
